DoRun Web Services: FAQ
What is a Web Page, and Why do I Need One?
Web pages are simply places people can see on the internet. While not every business or
organization needs one, web sites are the norm these days. It gives people who might
be interested in what you offer a place to learn more, and they can do this outside of
normal business hours.
Are Web Sites Expensive?
They certainly can be, but it all depends on what kind of a site you need. "Billboard"
type sites, where each page is static and looks like every other page on the site, are
not difficult to create, thus fairly inexpensive.
Sites rich in dynamic content, database driven, and with flash presentations,
require more work on the part of the developer and cost more as a result. Sites can be
had for as little as $100-$200, and as much as several thousand dollars.
How Long Does It Take to Make a Site
Again, this depends on what you need for a site. Some can take as little as a few days,
others take weeks or months.
How Will We Work Together?
Initially, DoRun will interview potential clients and get a feel for what it is they
want out of a site. What will it be used for? What do they want it to look like?
Are search engines results important, or will the site be primarily for other kinds
of referrals?
At that point, we get to work on a design. We will already have an idea of where content
will be needed, and will ask the client to provide some initial content. While this will likely
be changed later, it's a good start.
When this is completed, we put the site where customers can see it, finalize any design
features, and get the content completed. Then the site goes live. In many cases, that is not
the end though.
For customers interested in high search engine placement, we work with them on submitting site
maps and generating inbound links (lnks to their sites from other related sites). We also
set up services that allow customers to monitor site traffic and keyword conversion.
Do You Help Long Term?
When customers wish, DoRun enteres into longer term service agreements; in these situations, we
generally monitor site traffic and update the site as needed.
